I’m so excited to hear positive reactions already!
Tuesday the 25th at 4:30 we will have our first meeting.
Then Tuesday the 1st of April (no foolin) we will have a small event. Board games and book talking.
We’ll continue the board games and book talks April 15th and 29th.
We usually don’t have programs in May so we have time to prepare for summer reading. Registration for that begins May 12th. You’ll be hearing a lot about it!
Then we will pick back up with Tween Events in September.
There is a new tween blog at http://leesburgtweens.wordpress.com I’m encouraging the tweens to sign up to be contributors so they can write book reviews and have them published on the blog. They can also write movie, television, game, and graphic novel reviews.
I have created an imbee account (www.imbee.com) It is marketed as MySpace for tweens. It is pretty harmless, mostly the under 13 set talking about what they like. I will probably be sending home instructions/permission slips at the first meeting.
I look forward to meeting your tweens!!
Don’t forget Crafty Kids March 27th 4pm. Call 352-728-9790 to register! We will be making Pinecone Birdfeeders.
We had two winners in the Festival of Reading bookmark contest, both in the Middle School category:
Monica Cox, 6th grade, Homeschooled (1st place)
Ally Kanczurzewski, 8th grade, Tavares MS(Honorable mention)
Congratulations to the winners!
Tuesday was the first meeting of the Leesburg Tween Team. The children’s department looked like a ghost town!!
I am told I can blame this on the FCATs being scheduled that day.
I plan to pretend next Tuesday is the real first meeting and that this past Tuesday was merely practice.
Have you noticed that you are too old for Storytime but too young for Teen events?
Are you desperate for something to squelch the boring humdrum afternoons?
Do you like to read? Do you like Anime? Do you like video games?
If you are between the ages of 9 and 12, guess what?
YOU ARE A TWEEN!
Come to the new
Tween Advisory Board (TwAB) and talk about what you want the library to do for you!
